ITALY - Dear Mr. President, I'm Italian too

Photos: Bruno Zanzottera

G 2 (Generation 2) is the common definition used to identify boys and girls born in Italy from foreign parents, who, according to the italian government, can't be italian citizens until they'll turn 18. The issue is becoming of great interest and involves artists like Amir, a young rapper born in Italy with italian mother and egyptian father. In his song “Dear President” Amir asks Giorgio Napolitano to put the issue of citizenship for second generation youth at the center of his political agenda. Amir's petition has been already signed by 10,000 people and even the new Minister has underlined the same issue as a priority of the Gov't.
